Nippon Terpene Chemicals, Inc. (the “Company” or “we”) has established this privacy policy (this “Policy”) for the handling of personal information and other information of users (collectively, “Personal Information”), in order to protect Personal Information we collect from users (the “User(s)” or “you”), while striving to ensure that all officers and employees are made thoroughly aware of this Policy.
1. Appropriate Collection
“Personal Information” means all information subject to protection, including, without limitation, any personally identifiable information provided to the Company by the User, whether an actual person or a legal entity, the User’s action history on communication services, and other information collected by the Company that has been generated or accumulated by the User’s device.
We collect Personal Information to the extent necessary for the operation of our business, and use such information in accordance with the “Guidelines for the Act on the Protection of Personal Information”, published by the Personal Information Protection Commission (PPC) in Japan in November 2016.
2. Purpose of Use of Personal Information
We collect and use Personal Information for the purposes of providing information to Users about our services, responding to inquiries, identifying potential cases of violations of our terms and conditions, and notifying Users of any changes in such terms and conditions.
If you do not wish for us to use any or all of the Personal Information that you have voluntarily provided to us, and provide us with a request for the discontinuance of use of any such information, we will discontinue the use of such Personal Information for the above-mentioned purposes as soon as possible. If we receive a request from you, that we correct any Personal Information you believe inaccurate, or in accordance with the provisions of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (“Personal Information Protection Act”), that we discontinue using your Personal Information on the grounds that it has been handled beyond the scope of the intended use or that it has been obtained through deception or other wrongful means, we will conduct an investigation to the extent necessary without delay, after confirming that the request has been duly made by yourself. Based on the results of the investigation, we will then make any necessary corrections or discontinue using the relevant Personal Information and notify you to that effect; provided, however, if we have decided not to correct or discontinue such use, we will then notify you to such effect.
3.Provision to Third Parties
We will not provide the Personal Information to any third party without your prior consent, except in the following cases:
(1) Where we entrust the handling of Personal Information to a third party in whole or in part to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use;
(2) Where Personal Information is provided upon succession of business due to merger or other reasons;
(3) Where it is necessary to cooperate with a national government agency, a local government, or a party entrusted thereby, in executing the affairs prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining your consent is likely to impede the execution of such affairs; or
(4) In other cases, where provision of Personal Information to a third party is permitted under the Personal Information Protection Act or other relevant laws and regulations.
4. Disclosure of Personal Information
If we receive a request from you for disclosure of your Personal Information in accordance with the provisions of the Personal Information Protection Act, we will disclose the same to you without delay after confirming that such request has been duly made by yourself (or, in the event such Personal Information does not exist, we will notify you to that effect); provided, however, this does not apply to cases where we are not obligated to disclose the same under the Personal Information Protection Act or other relevant laws and regulations. Please be advised that a fee may be charged to process the request for disclosure of Personal Information.
5. Secure Management of Personal Information
We maintain appropriate and necessary safeguards to protect your Personal Information from leakage, loss, or damage, while striving for continuous improvement in our process.
6. Compliance with Laws, Regulations, and Other Rules Concerning Personal Information
We handle all Personal Information in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act and other relevant laws and regulations.
