A message from our Representative Director

Since establishment back in 1919 as Saisei Shounou Ltd., Nippon Terpene Chemicals has continuously held a leading position in the business of aroma chemicals based on Terpenes (natural essential oils).

Through innumerable insights and inventions that nature has given us, together with contemporary technologies of the times, we have contributed to many unique benefits in daily life.

In 2019 we celebrated the 100th anniversary of our founding. I would like to express my utmost gratitude to all of you for your support over the years.

I am confident that we be able to continue to serve our society as a company of originality in the fine chemicals business in addition to our traditional terpene chemicals expertise.

1919	Established as Saisei Shounou Ltd., with a capital of 1,000,000 JPY; Constructed Head Office and Factory in Kobe; Started processing of camphor (shounou) as a factory designated by Japan's Monopoly Bureau
1924	Constructed continuous sublimation equipment to start integrated production from camphor oil to refined powdered camphor products
1961	Constructed Tsuchiyama Factory in Harimacho, Hyogo; Started development of terpene products including terpene hydrocarbons and peroxides
1963	Increased capital to 50,000,000 JPY; Obtained licensing for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and food additives and started production of these products
1964	Changed the company name into Nippon Terpene Chemicals, Inc.
1965	Entered into the market of flavors/fragrances ingredients including synthetic menthol, and started supply of various aroma chemicals
1980	Expanded reactors and refining facilities and entered into the businesses of fine chemicals including pharmaceutical intermediates
1993	Increased capital to 64,000,000 JPY
1996	Established the GMP system for manufacturing pharmaceuticals
2001	Obtained ISO9001 certification for all factories and offices
2003	Acquired land for Kobe Office and factory in Higashinada Ward, Kobe City (current location) to integrate Kobe Factory and Tsuchiyama Factory
2004	Started operation of Kobe Office and factory
2006	Moved the Head Office to the current location
2019	Celebrated our 100th anniversary
